thanks for the info! i will be going in the British bars, to watch the English football when there. If its only Irish bars personally i wont visit them anywhere in the world. i can speak a bit of the lanaguage and get by but as i say i am there for football so the actual city and what it has is on the back burner, until i cna visit there for a longer trip

got back from Valencia found a few decent bars with the English football on, stopped in the hotel expo which ishigly recomended, good parties in the city but the actual city itself is a bit poor and 1 of the lowest ranked major cities i have visited in Spain, dont think i will be rushing bac to Valencia too quickly

can you explain a little more why the city itself is poor, what didnīt you like and how does it differ from the other cities that you rank above it? just for my own curiosity, I absolutely love valencia but havenīt been to any other large cities so would be interesting to see what I can expect from the others.

alright chap, just seen this post (i dont use this forum too often- so may take me a while to reply sorry), i am not too sure why i didnt like the city, maybe it was down to me being there just 1 day, i thought the airport home was poor, very limited (mind you not all can be as big as el Prat in BCN), i thought the locals were really ignorant (obviously being a Barca fan playing Valencia maybe wasnt the best of time to have chosen) the restaurants we eat in were more of get you in and get you out in a rush sort of thing despite them being relativley quiet. We ahd a good party in some British themed place, but that was quiet moody with a few locals in there. All in all i wont i rush back, i will go when the Nuevo Mestalla opens buts for a 1 off trip (unless we plkay in the Copa Del Rei final). Its not a patch on BCN, Madrid or Sevilla in my opinion, but eh each to their own ?

interesting comments, you are right its not for everyone. I am suprised you found the locals ignorant, although as you mentioned, the Barca shirt might have had something to do with that. I agree with your comments about the restaurants, it seems that unless you are willing to pay for a top class place, the service does tend to leave a lot to be desired! especially in the "menu del dia" places, "get it down ya quick and back to work" is the moto! but the prices are generally excellent and the amount of food excessive!
I tend not to visit the British places, ocassionally I might take my Spanish friends along as they quite like them, but we prefer the local "dives", I mean... establishments, where the lager is cheaper and the locals are all very friendly.
You might have a long time to wait for the new mestalla, so lets hope the service improves and the attitude is not so hostile by the time you return.
Iīve still to visit any other cities so canīt compare, will make sure I donīt wear a Valencia shirt to Barca just in case.
