    Default Valencia Tennis OPEN 500

Valencia brings yet another great sporting event to its city... A stunning new show piece - the Āgora building with a spectacular opening roof, will be the setting of the Valencia Tennis OPEN 500 between 2nd and 8th November. The fast surface court is set a stadium that can seat 6,500 people and will form part of the spectacle which will also hold dining, leisure and nightlife areas in the City of Arts and Sciences.
Take a look at the amazing introduction on the official website - Valencia OPEN 500 and you can see the unique design and spectular setting for this, yet another top sporting event to come to Valencia.

Valencia is certainly being heard about much more now than when I first arrived here. What/who has precipitated the new attractions to the city ? Is this why they are now calling Valencia Spains' third city rather than Sevilla as I was told originally ?

I think that the Mayoress has a great deal to do with it, Rita Barbera. But whether she can claim all the success I donīt know. She is certainly very enthusiastic about all the changes and is not too popular with the "leave our old and traditional Valencia alone" gang. Obviously politics always has its "forīs and againstīs" but I can only see the positive that this is bringing to the city. I was very suprised when I came across a demonstration against her, although it opened my eyes a little, I still think there is room for progress as long as it is not at the loss of the locals (which i believe is a sour and well argued case!).

She was (and still is) a very big influence in the Americas Cup and Formula 1. and they certainly know how to celebrate in style. Take a look at these publicities... Valenciaopen500 and Tourist Advert they are spectacular.
The City of Arts and Sciences has brought a great deal of publicity and is used quite often in adverts on the TV as a back drop, or for large events and concerts. This year we also had the European Athletics Championships and also an Equestrian Championship

I canīt wait for the next event to happen, we are hoping its going to be the 33rd Americas Cup in July, but it seems to all still be up in the air (or should I say in the courts!)
