I would love to move to Spain and study business and international marketing. What are the best english-speaking universities? And where are they? I hear a lot of people go to Barcelona, Madrid or Granada. What is your opinion?

Hi marla22, welcome to the forum!
If you end up studying in Spain, I am sure you will enjoy it.
You are right, Barcelona and Madrid are studying hotspots - mainly because there is also a lot of other things to do and because they are both beautiful cities. As for Granada I'm not too sure how popular it is.

I've seen more foreign students in valencia than in madrid... i guess because of the beach. Barcelona is a very international city (more than madrid) but u may find some people who don't want to speak spanish because "their country is catalonia"
I live near Sevilla and their are many lanaguage schools here, many foreign students in the city ..here a few lots, more if you google search.

Many Universities in the UK have links with Spanish Universities allowing students to study and gain qualifications from both institutions. Manchester Met. springs to mind. You can look in the UCAS booklet and find out the details. As part of european agreements you are eligible to apply to study at a Spanish University, offering A levels as your entry qualification. However, the language of tuition will be Castillano, Spanish, and you should not expect to be taught in English. There are private universities but I am not sure how their qualifications are perceived in the wider academic community.
Salamanca and Palencia are the most prestigious universities in Spain.
The culture of HE is very different here. The majority of students do not leave home to study but continue to live at home and go to local universities.
Barcelona, Madrid and Granada are all beautiful cities with their own very different characters. All are served from the UK by low cost airlines. Come and visit them and see for yourself.
Hi Marla 22 and welcome. I heard that Salamanca, west of Madrid, is probably the oldest and one of the finest unis in Spain founded in 1218.
Down our way, we have the Benalmadena College of Business (LEEDS BA), Malaga Business College teaches in English and Malaga University takes international students.
Hi there!
I think that the best experience is going to spain, learn the Spanish basics - also business spanish - and then go to an Erasmus university. This way you learn Spanish at super-speed, you meet Spanish and international people, and you study the subjects you are interested in!
A friend of mine did a business-language spanish course in Barcelona with a company called Estudio Hispanico. She learnt a lot of general spanish, but also the improtant business-terms. After that she went to the Erasmus univerity - UB (University of Barcelona) where she communicated mostly in Spanish, but if she was REALLY stuck, she could speak English!
I strongly advice googling both the university and Estudio Hispanico!
Good Luck!!
Louise
I always wanted to study abroad in Barcelona while still in college. That would've been an awesome summer.
Hello marla22
It is a great decision to study in Spain and why do you opt for only english-speaking universities? Tiil the students learn Spanish, English is kept as a medium of instruction in many universities.
