If anybody works for a re homing centre or knows of one maybe we can make a list. Animal cruelty is on the rise, many more pets are being abandoned for a variety of reasons.
Here is one in the Chiclana area called Happy Ending/Final Feliz

We are fortunate that in this area that we have many animal rescue centres.
This is almost entirely due to the volountary work done by ex pats. There is the easy care horse rescue centre in Rojales, which rescues horses and donkeys, and gives them a new lease of life. There are a number of dog rescue centres, such as Sats who try to rehome as many abandoned and ill treated dogs as possible. and Joe the cat man who takes in stray and unwanted cats and kittens and rehomes them, as well as catching feral cats and having them neutered before releasing them.
All of these are supported by local British bars and associations who raise money by raffles, charity shops and donations. As well as the local Police who alert the charities of animals needing care and some local vets who do work on the animals for free.
With many Brits returning home, some of whom abandon their pets rather than taking them with them, the centres are struggling to keep up with demand for spaces.

The more relaxed rules on the Rabies issue should mean less abandoned dogs, well in theory anyway.

Mmmmmmm but is the relaxed rule a good thing, we certainly don't want Rabies coming back.......Whatever the situation there is no excuse for abandoning your pets or being cruel to them.........anyone caught doing so should get a heavy sentence and they should be traced back the UK if necessary.
Thinks that if all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion
I think I read that the numbers of rabies had been reduced significantly in the countries they consider 'risks' I hope that it does not mean an increase in cases I would the remaining checks are adhered to and checked.
When we took our dog to UK by ferry, the spanish end going out checked passports papers and chip. On entry to UK NO ONE there to check we drove straight through
Return from UK end, the lady was not happy that our vet had not put the expiry date of the rabies vaccination, made a right fuss about it. Eventually allowed us out. Reaching Spain no check back in that I remember.
