Default Hi All :) What Part Of Spain?

Ok so im looking to move over to spain very soon, next week im spending
from thursday until monday in spain to have a look around.. I will be flying to Alicante airport, at 1st i was suggested Javea it was recommended highly but a friend of mine said its pretty boring and said Moraira is better?

I will be looking to rent for now, im 24 but that doesn't necessarily mean im looking for the party scene i would be quite happy with somewhere moderately quiet and peaceful but could go on detours for the odd night / weekend out. A lady i spoke to in a Javea estate agent said its very nice and that there are many british nationals and people are very friendly and all invite each other out for lunch etc.

Im quite social so could fit in well in most areas but wouldn't want all of my friends to be OAP's lol (no offence to you elders) just need some young friends too. I have shares in a stable business in england so would have an income anyway but a place with business opportunities would be welcome.

I will have a look around Alicante but based on what ive said what suggestions would you have?

    Kind Regards

    Hola Dolphin,

I'm sure the right place exists for you... The important thing is you find it!

Javea and Moraira are both nice places, with their fair share of pros and cons.

I'm not sure its exactly like the estate agent says: "everyone invites each other out for lunch, etc." but I'm sure there is a big social network there.

I suggest you rent a car when you get to Alicante and drive around, Torrevieja, Denia, Benidorm, Javea, Moraira, Villajoyosa... Get a feel for everything.

Oh and don't forget August is different to the rest of the year

    Greg / anyone else...

What about Gata de Gorgos? 10 mins from Javea and rental prices are better

Gata de Gorgos looks like a nice place. Don't know it personally but from the info online it seems great. You are just a stone's throw away from Denia and Javea so that's convenient.

The best option you have is to initially make a temporary decision. Establish your "base" and start to explore. Over the weeks and months you will figure out what suits best. Who knows maybe you end up feeling that somewhere completely different is more suitable.

What other options are you looking at, Dolphin?

Well for what im looking at Javea seems ideal and the only reason i liked the sound of Gata was because there was a nice 3 bed villa there for 575 euro as apposed to 800+ pcm in Javea... After further inspection it is in Gata Residential which is all built on a hill and has damp problems in the winter... some contacts in Javea said do not move there lol. To be fair i could do without 10 mins travelling too and wont have a car right anyway

I would suggest staying fairly close to Alicante, as you will have the city life on your doorstep, and check out places that are on the tram/train route north of Alicante. That way you can get around without needing the car and I believe the trams run very late during the summer months for disco-goers!

As stated, some places will be a lot busier during the summer month, so you need to think about that.

    Good luck with your search!

Whereabouts are the properties that you are viewing? An hour from Alicante would be fine for a weekend or even day trip. If you are further north, we love visitng Valencia and again it's busy all year round. Have you looked at Calpe? It seemed very lively when we visited at the end of January, but probably because it was a beautiful Sunday morning so loads of Spaniards had headed that way too!

    Spanish Property 2012

does anyone have any experience of living in Javea. we were interested in a property in Roldan but the estate agent said the Spanish can be a little funny with brits in Javea itself and close surrounding areas and to maybe look south? no personal knowledge so understandably has given me second thoughts and made me look at other areas in Murcia instead?
