The one of two bars had western style swing doors and a spitoon, which my kids thought to be fantastic and would buy bottles of water just to use it [mostly missed it]. Spain is a country which is trying really hard to play catch ups. Some aspects are stuck in the 70s or earlier and try as thery may they make a pigs ear of catching up.
I love Spain because its what I wanted, and as such has given me and my wife everything we invisiged. True, the cost of living has risen in accordance with world demand but what the hell, its still Spain with all the romance that it conjures.
    What say you out there?????????????????????????
Open your eyes out there, Spain is still in the 21 st centuary and striving hard to stay there, but it never loses its heritage unlike a lot of other countries. End of rant, thank you.
Easier now Keddy via the Ex-Pat sites without a doubt, but I think you really have to live here for a spell before you finally get tunned into the way of life here & find out what "you really" need to know.

Keddies right, people come here cos they think of "old Spain" and as it was all those years ago when it was simple and easy to come over, have a quiet life and do a bit of work here and there to make ends meet when necessary. Spain is not like that anymore, its trying to be like everywhere else in Europe, but sadly its still recovering to a degree from its years under Franco and its tough now! Its a wonderful place but if I were to offer advise to those who want to move here thinking it will be easy, I would say before you do, try to set up a business in somewhere like Cornwall first, that would be cheaper and easier cos you know the language, the rules and regs and a you'll have a safety net if it all fails

Depends what medical condition you suffer from. Under the new Valencian Health shake up where we now have to have private cover from the Health authority, you will pay anything from 4% to 90% of the cost of medicine. For example, if you suffer from what is termed a "chronic" condition (you have to take medication for that condition for the rest of your life), you will only pay about 4% of the medication cost. On the other hand, if your doctor prescribes medication for a condition that is temporary you could pay up to 90% of the cost.

I suffer from asthma and have to use an inhaler everyday and they last for 1 month. The cost of each inhaler is €60 but as asthma is classed as chronic condition I only pay €2.50 per inhaler.
