    Smile Making the move

I've currently been spending a great ammount of time in Spain, around 3 months per year and enjoy it much more than the UK.

I have very little commitments in the UK and have been considering making the full move. I recently launched my website in Spain and whilst it still needs great work, the potential it has is promising but before it becomes profitable, I will need a job. That is the ONLY thing stopping me at the moment.

I can find accomodation in Benalmadena for a month or so until I find a job at very little cost but I think that without a job, moving is a big risk. Risks don't usually bother me but this one is a little too overwhelming.

What I don't want to happen is to be dreaming instead of doing and 10 years later, be in the same position with the same dream but without the oppurtunity.

I would like to move around June/July so yes there is a lot to prepare for, what do you guys think about the situation. Could be better obviously but mainly, whats the likelihood of finding a job in Benalmadena?

Thank you for reading my long post, I know I rant on occasionally.

Morning, What do you do for a living apart from web designs?? Belamadena is quite a cosmopolitan area and loads of Brit pubs and ventas, perhaps you could get a job in the catering world but no much dinero in that. I am afraid if you deont speak Spanish then job prospects could be scarce. You could consider commuting to Gibraltar [about 90 minutes away on the N340].

What I do is debatable, I finished school with 11 gcses at A-C so did well and went on to college to do biology, chemistry and maths. I decided two weeks ago that it wasn't for me and left which now makes me unemployed. Not the best situation for someone my age however I beleive that the setback brings with it an opportunity for success

Hi Ndawson, How old are you? You seem very intelligent. By the way your signature link to your site does not work. I honestly can't see a problem in you getting a job here in webdesign or IT. There seems to be quite a few jobs available for that kind of work. Set your aims a bit higher.
When if you get here, you must realise your not on holiday especially in June July. My rule for living here as a businessman for the last 22 nearly 23 years, is not to drink alcohol during the day Mon to Friday. It has stood me well and im still in business.
Type in google : Jobs, Benalmedina or Benalmadena and see what come up you will be surprised.

Thanks for the advice, I'm 17 by the way. Also thanks for notifying me about the sig link, I'll get that fixed now. I don't tend to drink all that much anyway so alcohol shouldn't be a problem, the reason I was thinking June ish is my girfriend who I live with is still at college, we've decided to move together but I'd rather wait until she finishes in June.

I wasn't too optimistic about getting a good job since in the UK, things haven't been too great job wise, I'm categorized as the stereotypical school leaver.

Only in Gib though and only if you have a lot of experience, not much here otherwise

Coming here not even knowing what you want to do as a job would be suicidal in my opinion unless you had a large amount of cash in the bank. It's bad enough when you have a skill already but to come here with nothing wouldn't give you a very good start

I suppose a lot of this plan is based on the success of my website. It has proved popular thus far so I am feeling quite positive about it, quite a few sign ups already is pleasing. Once I get the full site up, it should start turning a profit, not too sure about whether to include advertising yet, the returns are probably not going to be that big yet they won't be too overtly intrusive. It's all dependent upon how many people I have visiting per month.

I should have enough savings to last quite a while; plus theres another 4/5 months to save.

The date is set, me and my girlfriend decided to go for it and make a commitment to the plan. Looked up flights on EasyJet and chose a nice morning flight on the 11th of October.

Its not as early as I originally thought but it's certainly not far off and will need a lot of planning. My biggest concern is still getting a job and after that, ensuring we have enough savings. So far enough to last about 4 months.

Anyway it's great to finally have a goal set in stone (or paper :P) to work towards!

Another thing I wonder about is whether I'll be able to drive there. I'm taking my test shortly meaning that if I pass, I have my full UK license but someone told me that in Spain you have to be 18 to drive, does this affect me?
