Firstly hello! I'm a newbie so bare with me please HaHaHa!
My question is do you choose a school for the kids first then a property or property then school?? Myself and hubby are looking to move to spain in the Alicante area we have 5 children 8yr old, 6yr old, 2yr old and then twins at 6mths. We'll be looking for a state school any good ones you know of please let me know. Also procedures getting them into school and when to start the process before or after we arrive in Spain?? Sorry for so many questions but I want to get this right and not waste money!! Thanks for reading. Zoe |

Hi Zoe, Schools here are like UK post code wise. So find the right school first , then register kids, then find house.
A really good primery school is San Miguel de Salinas, or Montesinos. You can register kids for school at any time but they are only allowed to start in the scholl at certain times of the year. Playa Flamenca is not a good school. |

Eljefe is speaking a lot of sense. There are many areas where your children would be the only Brits. There are other areas where the children would have to rely on buses to get them to school. if your children are very young, you may not be happy about that. If your children are that young, you are obviously not pensioners. What do you intend to do to earn a living???

I'm a qualified hairdresser and my husband is a plasterer with his own business in U.k so hopefully between us we will be ok!!
At the moment though my main concern is getting the school right first time for the kids?? Could you tell me if there are certain areas in Spain which would be more suitable for us and the kids i.e more brit kid state schools???? more brits in general |

Hola Zoe, if you stick to the coastal areas you will find lot's of brits. Your decision is what part of Spain. Each of us on here can only talk about the area we live in.
You will never be out of work as a hairdresser. Plasters are sought after as well. So job wise you will be ok. Get on the inter net and look at the major places Malaga, Valencia, Torrevieja, Mazzeron, Murcia. |

Also a lot of construction going on in Gib, and it's going to last for at least 10 years with the projects that are underway, one of them is total refurb of the blocks of flats, should think plasterers would be in high demand for that sort of thing.

I'm in the Málaga area and I know an English/Aus builder who sometimes needs plasterers/labourers - but construction work is hard to come by in the Málaga area - well my bit of it!? There is building work going on at the airport, but I think theres a lot of eastern europeans doing it My point is that there isnt much work in the Málaga area, so maybe the other areas mentioned would be worth a look first?????
