What are the problems with Liberty, Val and Alicanteman?

Part of the reason we changed was that Pelayo were around 20% cheaper than Liberty for the same cover. In addition, we found customer support for Liberty to be pretty poor.

It appeared we had house insurance with them, I tried to find a way to contact them and eventually did. The english speaker I eventually got is not very clear on anything and written english is dire to the point of misleading and not underestandable. When given the number for english speaker at Liberty some how the lady I get is linked to bankinter

I really wish I had not bothered I have been going round in circles ever since ! In the end I authorised my lawyer to try and sort it ...... eventually after more circles he got the info he needed BUT I am back in the circle to sort mine.

As an aside can anyone tell me what the connection is between Liberty Seguros and Bankinter ?

The house insurance my late husband had with has now run out, if I want to renew I have to send this lady Liberty/Bankinter change of name details. I doubt I will as I do not understand the setup never mind be able to communicate with them.

I have to say linea direct, you can find them easily on google, they will speal english and the breakdown cover is usually in with the insurance. If you have a current U.K mot companys will insure your van but it is a bit of a grey area.
Also as has been said the van w'ont be worth much here if you try and sell it later on.

I have to agree, so far I have been happy with talking to them. Will probably sort out house insurance with them also.

    This may be worth checking..........
I insure the car with Mapfre & the guy in the office said that "some" insurers will not attend/recover the car if its on a camino, but Mapfre will recover it from any location.
They will also allow 4 payments for just a little extra (handy nowadays)

For good honest advice on house insurance try Elite Insurance, and speak with José Manuel Sánchez in Fuengirola on 952467100 or info'at'eliteinsbroker.com. He saved me a fortune, because Spanish Insurance does not work on the same principal as the UK, there are set upper limits for every claim, consequently many of the Ex-Pat ( sorry...) Companies are taking money off you that will be of no benefit.

Through José I am insured with Helvetia, and there is a 24hr English speaking helpline.
