    Default Transporting car to Spain

Hi to all members this is my first post.
Does anyone have an idea as to the cost of transporting a car to Murcia from Manchester instead of driving it there myself, just wondered if it was more cost efficiant than driving after takeing into account fuel.eurotunnel, hotels and tolls.

Ah right, we have driven back to UK using the Santander Ferry, which was our preferred route, we took a cabin on ship and no toll roads. The ferry is about £500 overnight hotel if wanted/needed 60/80 euros fuel and food on top.

I shipped a Toyota Landcruiser back to UK from the CDS last year. It was a friends, he lives in the Midlands, it was £580, door to door and took three days. Easier and cheaper than driving in my humble!!

Hi Rob G, welcome to the forum from La Alpujarra.

I notice that you say, you intend to keep your car over here for about six months before deciding whether to keep it here permanently, this is a costly option. If you are, or going to be Spanish resident, and going to bring it into Spain from the UK (already being the UK registered owner), then get it matriculated within three months and it will save you a lot of tax.

You just have to go to your local Consulate and make a sworn declaration that you have just arrived, and then get the matriculation process under way, it will save you a lot of money.

As Val mentioned the ferry to Santander is a good option if you're bringing the car

I know a couple of folks in the Murcia region who came across on the ferry and then drove down.....I understand it took one of our neighbours about 8 hours from Santander to San Pedro del Pinatar (and they did not exceed 60 mph).

On the other hand I do know one guy who used a car transporter to transport his vehicle from Spain to the UK......not sure of the exact details but I'll try and find out more information because no doubt they do the reverse trip.....

Hi Rob G, I've just sent you a URL so you can enquire on costs etc of using a transporter.
