Default Just a rant about getting to Spain

Well, I have been on this forum for a good while, and all the opinions and advice everyone has given is nothing short of awesome.
As the days go by though, I almost feel as my heart is crumbling slowly but surely, although the economic crisis is still showing its ugly face over in Spain the prospect of living there still seems so much better than here.

I know I will miss my family but in my heart I feel I do not belong in my birth country. I have been to Spain and simply fell in love with it the moment I set foot on Spanish soil, I felt like I belonged. I have had good experiences over there as well as bad, yet the good still out weighed the bad tremendously.

Well I have decided, that in 3 months time, ready or not I will be making the move over. I have enough saved to last me about a year depending on my spending habits but my website is slowly becoming a hit with many to support me as well.

Hopefully soon I can take all you helped me on this forum for a cuppa or a beer, or whiskey and maybe a shot of tequila or two

Thats my rant, I want to be in Spain now

yeah i am pretty excited, i couldnt wait for the clock to strike 12 on new years eve. My first thoughts was to make the move round about July or August but if all goes well I would like to go in the following three months.

Does anyone know however what status I should apply for, my tourist visa lasts for 90 days, which is fine if I want to be a tourist, but I wont really have to find work here as I can run my company from home via email. What should I apply for?

The best thing to do would be to check with the Spannish Embassy in SA. At the same time get them to clarify what documentation you need for shipping your personal belongings to Spain so you do not have to pay import duty and vat. Don't rely on the shipping agent do to this, as I did and ended up paying quite a lot.

    Thanks dunmovin.
Only problem is if you think goverment departments are bad and slow in Spain you should visit my shores. I lost my ID not to long ago, well the washing machine actually decided to eat it, however, I just do not have the energy to deal with replacing it now. If by chance I get it done, in about 6 months it will be ready, and then there is a good chance that some dude in the rural areas will have my identification, or better yet I may find out that I am married to some Nigerian women, whom I never met.

Yes it happens here often, exciting times.

On the second point though, I am not taking any personal belongings, a couple clothes, my laptop, camera....its all part of my start fresh scheme

You will be dealing with Spanish people (not south african) at the embassy, which may make a difference.
