    Default moving to costa blanca

    Hi All
im new today to this forum
We are looking to relocate to costa blanca mid 2010, we are just checking out some areas. We need to be near the airport 30/40 drive alicante and murcia if we can, GOT to have a good primary state spanish school nearby as our children will be 8 and 10 then, and got to be a safe area as i will mostly be there on my own as my husband is still going to work in london a few days a week and comute
We are thinking about a long rental first maybe 12months just to make sure we have all settled in and kids like school and surrounding etc
Any information you have how big or small will be great

    Thanks

    Gaynor

Hi Gaynor, Try San Miguel de Salinas, Lovely village with nice villa urbs around it. It has a great primery school and state of the art Spanish secondry school. Many people with kids try to move here just for the postal code of San Miguel so they can get thier kids into SM school. We are 20 mins form Murcia airport and 30 from Alicante.
My daughter is 12 just gone from primary to secondry school and she loves it.

hi and welcome to the board. 30 to minutes drive from Alicante airport gives a huge radius. Are you wanting somewhere on the coast or inland?

Do you drive... Public transport is poor in some areas. Where I live, there are plenty of houses to let at reasonable rates. There are school buses, but if you are on your own, you won't be able to rely on public transport. We are half way between Alicante and Murcia airports with low cost airlines.(about 30 minutes to each) and a short drive or long walk to the fabulous beaches of Guardamar del Segura. We are across the lake from San Miguel de Salinas..So maybe somewhere in the area would be suitable. You mentioned security, I would not recommend the coastal area where security seems to be more of a problem.

There are plenty of places between Alicante and Murcia. If you need brit support stick to the expat areas along the coast. For a more spanish feel look inland. I would recommend renting for 12 months before you look at purchasing, although buying in the next few years will get you a beautiful home for a lot less money than in recent times. San Miguel de Salinas is well placed as has been mentioned. There is a top class International school on the La Torre site of Polaris World if you fancy living on a 5 star development for the same price as living in a town. It has wonderfull facilities around a top class golf course!

NB. YES this is a shameless plug as I own an apartment overlooking the 1st and 2nd hole!
