I'm impressed, I bought a Coventry Eagle 27 years ago. It is hanging on a hook in my garage. I must get it out when the weather cools down a bit. Mind I say that every year.

I used to have one of those lazy peoples bikes, A Francis Barnet 197 cc 2 stroke....impressed Val.

I never realised they had that large an engine - that's the one with the long fuel tank running down the front arm of the frame isn't it?

The fuel tank was in the same place as most other fuel tanks, between the handlebars and the seat.

The F/B I was thinking of had it on the forward bar of the triangular frame - the one leading up from the pedals towards the handlebars and if I remember correctly the tank appeared to totally enclose that forward bar but I suspect that it actually saddletanked it.

I must admit, your description confuses me a bit. The tank was a normal size and was bolted to the cross bar. It didn't cover the forward bar except for maybe a couple of inches at the top.

If we're talking bikes...when I was at 6th Form I was a bit of a rebel and had several motor bikes........ T120, Tiger Cub and Z4/4. The first two were very old bikes and a friend had to rebuild them for me. Once rebuild however the T120 was great but being single cylinder had a mean kick back unless you were real careful ;-))
Thinks that if all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion
