Default Advice on trip to Mallorca

hi,i may be on the wrong forum but i am just looking for a little info on majorca.myself and 3 friends(all very young early forties)are travelling to majorca in march for a short walking break but have no idea where to base ourselves.
the base for walking is not so important but we would like to have something to do on a night.can anyone tell me if places like alcudia are still reasonably busy in march or should we stay in the main tourist resorts which we would avoid at all costs in summer.
we do not want to be stuck in a closed town but equally do not want to feel like the sad uncle at a family wedding if places like magalluf are going to be full of 18 year old drunks.
any advise would be much appreciated.
    thanks kev.

    Hi Kev,

I've moved your post to the Mallorca Forum as it was more of a question about Mallorca than an introduction I suggest you take a read through our Spain Guide.

How about you stay in Palma town and then rent a car? Most places are just a short drive...

    Hi Kev
You've probably already decided on an itinerary for your March holiday but I just thought I'd mention that Soller and Port de Soller are both excellent bases for daytime walking and not-too-noisy sociable evenings.
I've never been disappointed with the Hotel Es Port in Port de Soller, and the delightful train and tram journeys between Palma,Soller and Port de Soller are an added bonus. Homepage - Tren de Sller - Ferrocarril de Sller S.A./Mallorca
    Have a great time
    Cheers,

What is the weather usually like in Mallorca in late Feb. early March.

We will be in Spain Jan, Feb and Mar. next year and have been planning a little foray from mainland Spain. Have been looking at the Canary Islands but Mallorca looks like it might be a viable alternate.
