Default Orchestral / Classical Music (Radio)

Something to do with licencing regulations I think: I can no longer pick up the UK radio station, Classic FM. Occasionally they asked for a post code because 'I appear to be living outside the UK.' I tapped my old one in and carried on listening. Even that doesn't work any more: I have been outed as an illicit listener ;o)
Are there any Spanish equivalents .. better still English language similar radio stations I can listen to on-line? Maybe not classical, orchestral or opera but definately not this tiresome recycled pub-pop crap ... or rap, a form of entertainment one letter short in the spelling. )

There is the eqivalent of Classic FM on 90.01. I think this is a national station. What classic s do you like istening to. I like russian classics palyed by Andre Previn and in particular Battle on the Ice from Alexander Nievski album. I like all things Liverpool having been brought up there. One of my cousins is a good friend of Precila and have met her on numerous occassions as well as most of the 60's bands who used to attend her fathers partiews when he was one of the Chairman at LFC in the early 60's.

It is difficult to define classical music leaving aside the purist interpretation. I think of it as orchestral: instrumental composed music, plus opera. It is just as difficult to identify one's likes. After all, such music spans four-hundred years and many countries.
The Strauss family (not Richard) alone composed about 1,500 pieces between them. Of many hundreds of composers you could concentrate on just one (Mozart?) and still never know it all. It is all pretty much encyclopaedic but none the less superb.
What I listen to is entirely as my mood dictates. Dramatic, sentimental, romantic, inspirational, dreamy, ethnic (as in Spanish classical) fun; the list is as long as your mood swings. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata if I am feeling 'mushy'; his 7th Symphony or Holst's 'Mars' if I want to go out and kill someone.
Classical Desert Island Discs. That would make a good topic. Liverpool, I was a volunteer / supporter at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. I write on the subject, as an enthusiastic listener rather than an expert.

I have the RealPlayer from Real Networks installed, and I can listen to classic FM on there. At least I think it's classic FM - I'm definitely hearing classical music but there hasn't been an ident since I started listening. (added edit --> it IS Classic FM on Real, just heard idents and an ad for the Welsh proms)

iTunes from Apple is also worth installing, as it also has a plethora of radio stations.

BBC Radio 3 is available at the BBC site - it's only telly that you can't see on the iPlayer; the radio works fine for all channels except for footy of Five Live.

Radio Clásica is the Spanish equivalent you can listen here (if links are enabled here) You'll see where to press play on the page to listen live.

I've not tried it myself, but live365 seem to have a choice of classical audio to listen to.

      Good listening.

I pick Classic FM up on my PC but now that I have gone from Telefonica to Vodaphone dongle (radio) with a 3g monthly limit the jury's still out on how much I should be using it.
They say music downloads have an appetite for bytes so it is a case of suck and see. I am not certain that listening to a radio station falls into the category of 'downloading music'? Other than that, as you say; Radio Classica (or DVDs and CDs) .
