According to latest reports Spain ranks fifth in the Smiley League for ex-pats, with New Zealand claiming Top of the Swaps. Brits claim that down under ticks more boxes; primarily low property prices, lower taxes, better weather, healthier lifestyle; and for those working; mostly professionals, better pay.
Hot on their heels: Australia, France, the UAE, Portugal – and Spain. The attraction is lifestyle rather than wealth. Singapore and Hong Kong, despite their wealth, came last.
Personally, I think the report is flawed or based on the ignorance of those questioned. I am sorry but New Zealand cannot compete with Spain - and that doesn't even take into consideration the awesome distance and travel costs involved. Live in the antipodes and you can kiss bye-bye to your family.
