Question Middle class income range in Spain?

I'm trying to do some research and I'm having difficulting getting any real numbers on what the typical middle class income range is in Spain.

Anyone have an idea? Doesn't matter if it's euros or dollars.

    Hi bullseyers,

According to Spain's national institute of statistics in 2000 it was an average of 1384€.

I've not been able to find any other figures... Spain has a great way of keeping such figures in the darkest hole possible

If that was the average in 2000 lets say it's around €15,000 now. Does any one know what that would roughtly work out at once you have paid taxes etc...

Not sure but 15000 seems awfully low when thinking average in UK is about £23000

The average monthly income for Spain,in 2003, was 1600e. Where i live, in Murcia, the average was 900e mth.(2nd. poorest region in Spain) and in Andalucia it was less.
Also bear in mind that of the approximately 40million people who live in Spain, less than 20 million work and pay taxes and of those at the tax period to June 2009, 85% were entitled to a full rebate. It doesn't take a genius to see that approx. 3 million people support the country and this is why you have to pay a fee for nearly everything.

This figure CANNOT be correct... See:

18 million Spaniards earn less than 1,100 euros a month | Spanish News

According to a recent study published by the Treasury a whopping 18.3 million Spaniards earn a gross monthly salary below 1,100 euros a month. The figure represents 63 per cent of the total Spanish workforce. The latest figures reveal a 5 per cent increase over the previous study which was carried out in 2006.

If that's true that only 20 million work then only 10 per cent of Spaniards earn more than 1100 euros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The info came from an article in La Verdad around June, in addition my neighbour mentioned it recently during a discussion about country populations that that was Spains problem, a population of 40,000,000 but less than 20,000,000 work And that 85% are entitled to a rebate. In addition around here what is happening is that people earning around 800/ 1000e mth. are being told that their wages are going down 200 or 300 a mth and if they don't like it they'll get someone else on the lower pay. They can't do anything because most are on 1, 3,6 mth. contracts, I only have 2 neighbours that are 'contrato indefinado' out of more than 20. One neighbours daughter, university educated, speaks English and German went to China to work because it pays 24,000e; 3x more than she can earn here!
If you look here there is all sorts of info, but at the end of the day statistics can be interpreted to suit the ends required. Where i live i can well believe that only10% of Spaniards earn (legally) over 1100euros.
