I went into Vodaphone in La Troche in Coin and gave my details and a few minutes later I was given a printed form with my details thereon. This has to be done by November or the mobile will be cut off. This is all due to the terrorist attack in Madrid when the bombs were detonated via mobile phones. |

It will be interesing to see whether they cut any registered phones off in error.......my guess is they will if they are anything like the UK......this type of exercise always ends in disaster LOL

No not done it yet but will do it soon. Surprised they have a system to do it with, they seem to make rules then when you ask about complying they tell you you are right BUT they no system as yet.

We registered our Movistar SIM card last September & requested a copy of what was on the pc as proof of doing so in case of any problems later on.
A couple of weeks ago we were back in Spain & had a text from Movistar, in Spanish obviously. We don't speak Spanish & Movistar do send so many & we generally delete them. However there was 'targeta' & 'Nov 09' mentioned so I suggested my husband kept the message & we popped into the shop we'd bought the SIM from in 2005 & registered it with in September supposedly !! They said we were not registered !! (WHAT ??) We showed them what they'd printed off for us last September & the young woman removed the SIM card & noted its serial number on the PC. (In September they'd only noted the phone number & passport number). She gave us a print off after doing that. It gave my husband's Christian name Christopher rather jumbled up so we commented & got 'pc is ok with that' & his second Christian name was down as our surname, another comment from us got same response as before ! Although it had United Kingdom as his residence it said my husband was NIGERIAN, another comment from us & same response from woman 'pc is happy !' What CAN you do ?? She insisted we're registered now but it beggars belief. The best of British or should I say Spanish ? |

Is there any way that you can find out if your phone is registered (in English preferably), either by phone or internet? We have one Orange and one Movistar. When I bought the Movistar the nice lady needed my residencia details, does that mean it's registered? (That was about two years ago).

No, the details you give at time of purchase is not for registration purposes. When you register now for the Nov deadline you will be given a form as proof of registration which you have to sign and a copy is given to you.

We recently registered a couple of phones with Movistar; there is a problem with their database for countries of origin, UK does not exist so I believe we went down as Germany, and Spanish were something else, not Spain. It makes no difference to the registration.
