The fact that it is a contract means it is already registered, i.e they have all your details.

yes of course it does, you are right
I also have a pre-paid mobile with movistar and have not registered. I have received on averagfe of 3 texts a day for the last few weeks offering a number of deals for me. The latest is thye will give me 1000 mins free talk time between 10th Nov - 17th Nov if i register my details with them. I think i will keep them waiting another week or so.
Don't believe they won't cut off a contract 'phone, they cut off my neighbours recently in a dispute over his Landline Adsl, ( which doesn't work! ) whilst still taking money from the bank for both services!
When i cancelled my telefoníca landline recently, i also went to the bank and cancelled the payments. They told me to keep an eye on the account as i have a contract mobile with movistar and it is not unknown for Telefoníca to debit accounts via this method.

Don't forget that Moviestar are part of Telefonica. There cant be many more disorganised company's than them. I have taken three mobiles into the local Vodaphone shop to be re registered. They were very helpful, gave me a print out and a free 10 euro top up for registering. To say they won't cut you off if you have a contract is wrong. It was the Spanish government that made the requirement, not the companies.
