From what you say it looks beneficial to us pensioners resident in Spain.. I pay tax on my Police pension in the uk, and should pay a bit less..I am not sure if I will get the 140 pound a week state pension..If so, that would be an increase.. My wife gets at the moment a pension equivalent to 60% of mine. I don't know whether that will continue as it is, or will she obtain more?

The commencement date for the single-tier pension has not been announced. It will only apply to 'new' pensioners not those already in receipt.

Thanks for the info...I suspected there would be a catch. Does that mean that those with extra benefits will keep or lose them.

There will be a start date announced and from that point new pensioners will receive the new single tier pension which will be much easier to administer.

Anyone already in receipt of the state pension will see no change. I hope that clarifies.
