      Default tenants rights

hi,my parents live in mainland spain(javea)and have been renting the same flat for 15 yrs.recently the owner died, and my parents have been trying to renew their 15 yr contract ever since.they have been paying a direct debit for their rent and are still doing so.the family turned up to say they are going to sell the property and have told my elderly parents they have until june 2010 to leave.my question is..can the family do this???

      thanks

Due to the length of time your parents have rented the flat I'm fairly certain they can't just be thrown out BUT if the owners are selling that is slightly different....That said I seem to recall hearing something along the lines of a tenant of such long standing has first dibs should the flat be sold.....also I think special prices have to be agreed.......others may have more information on your parents exact legal status however I'd recommend you seek legal advice

Everything depends on what the rental agreement provides. Could you post the clause of the contract relating to the term of the lease ?
