Is she already in possession of a Full SIPS Card ? My Girlfriend and I had a Baby over here 2 years ago - I was working legally, she wasn't. She was entitled to a temporary SIPS card through my legality, and once she was registered by the Midwife everything went smoothly. As soon as the Baby was born the Hospital asked to see our SIPS card, and when they found that both of them were temporary they issued all 3 of us with new, permenant cards. It should be a testemant to the State Healthcare system that we have had Private Healthcare for 4 years and never used it yet.

Two years ago Brits under retirement age were entitled to free medical. Things have changed since then, however as you have been paying into the social security system and the baby will be born in Spain you should not have a problem. It's best to go to the social security office and verify what you are entitled to.

If you are working then she is covered by your contribution, just need to fill in one simple form at the doctors and all is well

As they haven't bothered to get back since last november, they have probably sorted the problem.
