Default Hello from The wet UK - moving to Spain soon

    Hi to all

At the minute I live with my family in Cheshire. We lived in The Canary Islands for 16 years and been in the UK for 3 years.

Having had enough of the weather, tax, violence and bloody traffic we are moving to Spain (Andalucia) in the next few weeks.

Involved in the internet business allows us the luxury of being able to live wherever we choose.

    We cannot wait.....

    Lloyd

Good morning Lloyd and welcome both to the forum and Andalucia.
I should imagine there is some excitement going on in your household at the moment !
The weather has been beautiful all week in our part of Andalucia and my guests are currently sitting in the jacuzzi at this ungodly hour and were swimming yesterday in the pool ( it is heated though ! ).
Obviously, we don't have the same year round temps you had in the Canaries but we don't do badly and we make up for it with an abundance of places to see.
I hope your move goes smoothly.

    Thanks Anis

We have spent a lot of time in Spain so we are all really looking forward to the move.
We have friends there which is another reason we chose Andalucia.

The kids will be going to the school in Estacion de Cartema so we are looking for a place to live within easy driving distance.

My parents live in Lanzarote and they will be moving with us so it is not easy to find what we are looking for ;-(( but we keep on looking.

We have a few agents looking for us and we fly over whenever we can.

You are right about the places to visit. The whole family are so looking forward to that. Lanzarote is very limited. We used to have a boat there so were able to visit Fuertaventura other places but it is still very restrictive and dependent on the sea conditions of course.

Being able to go skiing in Sierra Nevada and spend a week end in Portugal is really appealing to us and we really cant wait...!

We really miss the whole way of life which is so different in the UK and whilst it has been great being here for a while, as the youngest 3 kids were born in the Canary Islands, it is not where we want to be.

We bought a camper van and traveled across the UK to show them the beauty that there is here. Now we have all seen it we want to come home ;-)))).

So back to the packing.. It is amazing just how much junk we have collected in 3 years here.

Well done Lloyd, although I have only been out here since May this year. I have Brit TV and while London was under cloud freezing and wet on Friday I sat on the beach for 4 hours under blue skies feeling the warmth on my face and reading a book.
Now let me see which do I prefer ......

Hi Keith - We love Barcelona.

We were there earlier this year. We flew into Malaga then spent 10 days driving up the coast to Barcelona, stopping wherever we liked and then had 2 days in Puerta Ventura with the kids before flying back to rain and flooding.

We have organised the TV already using a slingbox so we will have all the sky channels, although I am hoping that time spent on the beach/bar/restaurants is far more than watching tv!

And of course Spanish Red..... I can taste it already.. :-)

    Hi again,
Estacion de Cartama is not too far from me. We arranged for some of our long term guests to attend the private school there when it first opened - has a good record from all accounts.
I have some Dutch friends who live there and love it - super mountainwalks and beautiful in spring time.
The skiing is great and the snow has come early this year - my daughter goes every chance she can and its much cheaper than the other European resorts. You can even ski with a teeshirt on at times or ski, then beach in same day !
We can get to Portugal and back in a day.
We go camping all over the place even at our great age and have seen some beautiful places just in ANDALUCIA, let alone the rest of this vast country. I don't think your kids will be bored.

Estación de Cártama, or even Cártama itself, would not be my choice but I know people who live there and they love it.

There are many beautiful locations within driving distance so good luck with your search for a home.
