For those looking for work opportunities it might be best to say in what field, as some do. Then we might be able to advise, point the poster in the right direction. I think most work is generated by networking these days; especially the trades. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi Michael..

Ok i am a senior executive Chef / Manager with 24 years experience .

I already have my NIE number and lived in Spain in 2005 with my family but sadly had to return so now i am looking to secure a job before we move back .As for the location " Doesn't really matter " as long as it is built up and good for my kids .

Regards
Ade

Self-employed probably the best thing - or work s/e from an agency. Interestingly, a common gripe here (one of the few) is about how clueless many bar / cafe owners are.
Very often the staff are working hard; but often unnecessarily due to the inefficiency of boss / management. The times we have seen fed-up (excuse unfortunate choice of words) would-be diners leave with sour expressions - with much justification.
The concensus was; in the case of many distressed bars / cafes, and some restaurants, the damage has been self-inflicted. Make do simply will not do. Leave this business to the real professionals.

Hi buddy ..I have to agree with you there..

I have been offered a few jobs in various parts of Spain from people who have just moved there and rented a restaurant / Bar "with no experience " and say they can pay me this amount and do this and do that. And i have turned them down straight away because of the same reasons as you say.." Leave the business to those who know "
This is one thing that always bothers me about being offered work in any country !! My only stipulation is that whoever offers me a job must be a successful business or have the means behind them to create one .

Pretty simple really ..If you don't have the means and experience behind you "Why do you rent a bar / restaurant " These people amaze me !!

Myself and my family will move to Spain when the right job presents itself with the right establishment. If i have to wait 2 months--2 years --then so be it , I am in no rush and will not take any notice of anyone who has 2 weeks experience in the restaurant / bar business and tries to give me advice..

But going back to what you say my friend you are so right and it is a shame really to see so many businesses go bust because of silly mistakes..

Regards
Ade

Hi Ade,

Welcome to the Absolute Spain Forum, I hope you enjoy your stay!

Interesting experiences you've made there. I suggest you focus on an area while you job search and then get networking. Many jobs in the hospitality sector are given to friends of friends.

And how about starting your own bar / restaurant? Have you considered that? You seem to have the right background for it...

Hi Adesson

Have you thought about directly approaching clubs such as La Manga?
