Thread: Image is everything

Ibiza has a pretty negative image in the UK ... is the island the Sodom it is said to be? It's an island I would like to visit and I believe I can catch a ferry from Denia.

Sorry this comes a bit late ..yes,there are ferries from Denia .."Balearia" is one.
Ibiza is a beautiful island if you rent a car and drive around..I would just not recommend going there when the tourist season is in full blast.The bad reputation stems from places like San Antonio ..apparently there are very cheap flights on offer coupled with cheap accomodation...and as Spain is known for cheaper booze than the Uk has to offer ..its just something which has developed and one word gave the other ..so there was an influx of people taking advantage of the situation and the bad reputation came along as a freebee.
That does not take away anything from the islands charm..if you plan to go there I might suggest that you also have a look at the neighbouring island of Formentera.
Its not so much the towns and tourist centres which are attractive but the countryside, the beaches, the coves, etc.
I have lived over there for some years way back ..and find it still attractive when I go back...as they say > beauty is in the eye of the beholder
