I went to Barcelona few times already, and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I am with my boyfriend and sometimes with a group of friend and we always stay at some nice apartments we found online. And what to do like the most in Barcelona ?

See you

I have never had a hoilday here, I have lived in Spain for 4 years, always in same place just outside Sevilla. It is a great place to visit, lots to do and see in and around the town. I have visited many others places and this is a very diverse and interesting country from snow to beaches mountains and plains rivers and the skies.

I found Barcelona fascinating and lively. I only wish I could have stayed longer so I could have checked out more of Gaudi's work in particular. I will definitely go back for more but without the car next time.
My partiular holiday favourite in Spain are the Picos de Europa in the North and I believe many of the Spanish also enjoy the dramatic scenery there too.
It's very beautiful with many rivers, caves, mountains and green fertile valleys, friendly folk and reminds me more of little Switzerland than Spain. It's well worth the long journey there if you get the chance.
I am also rather fond of the "ham route" via Aracena and it's particularly good this time of the year if you have a fondness for wild mushrooms, cooked gourmet style. The food is fabulous - most of the prized blackfoot Seranno ham comes from this area, and the pork dishes served there are wonderful. It's very rural, lots of happy pigs wandering in oak forests with huge dogs guarding them.

Before we moved out David and I had been to Madrid for a city break, which was fabulous, the architecture, the history. Worth a few days of any ones time. We had a week in Benidorm a few years ago as David had a friend there he wanted to visit, ermmm not my cup of tea I had never been before and if you have seen the British TV programme Benidorm that is basically spot on. Here I have it all a beautiful town, sandy beaches which Molly the collie and I enjoy daily, fantastic friendly people, a great choice of restaurants and cafes bars nightlife. After 30 years of policing the dirty filthy streets of Soho in London. Which one would I choose? you decide.

Hey Keith

Your description of Benidorm made me laugh......its sooooooooooooo true. Some brits I know who were not familar with spain assumed Benidorm was fairly representative of spain........I soon put them right LOL..........

Now back to Barcelona, its a fantastic city. We stayed at the Hotel Jordi on our last visit......we found it to be very spanish........good value for money and central to everything......

Has anybody been on one of the cycle tours in Barcelona? Also do they do segway tours?

Las Lagunas de Ruidera, the Spanish version of the Lake District...

Peace and quiet, except in the Summer months, beautiful turquoise blue lagoons and lots of adventure type stuff to do, fishing, bird spotting, kayaking, diving etc etc.

Living near Marbella I prefer to get away to this type of place rather than the hustle and bustle of the big cities where I often need a holiday when I have been to them

I found a couple of web sites that showcase it a bit, but it really is a little secret in Spain, well it was!

I´ve travelled a bit in Spain over the years but want to do a lot more - there are just so many beautiful places here. Wherever you go, try and go out of season so you don´t have to fight your way through hordes of tourists!!

I would recommend everyone to make at least one trip to Salamanca. I stayed there for 2 months whilst doing a language course and it is so beautiful. Also in that area about an hour from Salamanca is Ciudad Rodrigo, which is an interesting old fortress town - nice day trip.

Caceres in Extremadura is well worth a visit - it has a gorgeous, untouched by the 20th Century (or the 19th for that matter!) old town which is totally pedestrianised and a lovely, atmospheric place to wander around.

Also been to Segovia, Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona and done the Sevilla-Cordoba-Granada tour. And have made many visits to my local big city, Valencia. All lovely places. I want to go to Asturias or Galicia next.

Willwill - Cullera, nice little fishing town??? It´s half an hour up the road from me. Spanish resort town with built up apartment blocks down to the beach! It´s ok - I went there once - wouldn´t rush back. LOL! OK for a day trip and a stroll along the beach but there are nicer places in this area to go to. Albufera, which is about half an hour from Cullera, is beautiful - lake and nature reserve and a quaint old town.
