If you want a basic but clean hotel right in the centre of things then I recommend Hotel Jordi ;-) (ooooops forgot to say this is for you dkviesfo - its in Barcelona)

I never been to Valencia, we have been invited to visit by some new friends in the area. What they have done with the old river bed sounds worth a look. I just found this ..The Turia River was diverted in the 1960s, after severe flooding, and the old river bed is now the Turia gardens, which contain a children’s playground, a fountain, and sports fields. The Palau de la Música is adjacent to the Turia gardens and the City of Arts and Sciences lies at one end.

Valencia has been such a blast. I'd say, save for the America's Cup a bit of an underrated destination.

The old town is just as good as any other place in Spain and the City of Arts and Sciencies by Calatrava is very impressive, to say in the least.

Da Vincci Palace Hotel is good and very reasonable place to stay and the value-for-money in Valencia is generally good.

I know this is quite an old thread, but I just had to say that next time anyone comes to Valencia (city or province) you have to go to BIOPARC. It's in the north-west of the city, just off the Ronda Norte, it's new and it's fantastic!!

Do NOT think of it as a zoo, that would be an insult. They have thought about the animals even more than the visitors. There are no bars, no square corners to any enclosure, and at times it's difficult to know where the enclosure ends and the visitor part begins!

One thing - you cannot take in food. At first they allowed it, but the people kept throwing food to the animals. But the restaurants and the cafés at very reasonable (not like Oceanográfico) and also there is a public park next door, where you could picnic before or after you go in.

Parking is easy - there's a massive underground car park, also reasonable. Do try it, my partner & I spent five hours going round with only two stops for coffee, so it's definitely value for money.

Check out their website - just put Bioparc+Valencia in Google.

    Default Valencia

Thank you posting in this thread. Indeed, my Valencia trip is over but good tips are welcome anyway.

Other members may be perusing the boards for the info they need and frankly, I am coming back to Valencia for yet another weekend pretty soon.

    Spanish Property 2012

Looks like i have arrived at this thread too late! Anyone wanting any information regarding Valencia, be it tourist info or accommodation, don´t hesitate to contact me, its my passion, and now my job too!!
The bioparc is spectacular as Felicity mentions, also the City of Arts and Sciences which is set in river Turia leisure park that ValL mentions. There are many terraces on plazas with al fresco dining in the city centre, monuments, musuems etc. The beach front too is lovely with a 7km palm tree lined promenade that comes to life on the warm summer evenings. I´ve never seen a beach so full at 10pm!!
The americas cup port, came in to its own during the competition, now it is a very nice Marina with the bases still in place, ready for the next 33rd Americas Cup which start the first regatta this year in June I believe. The atmosphere during the racing was brilliant, large screens followed all the action including an on board camera! There are some very trendy bars and restaurants there too, including an open air night club.
We are of course now if "fiesta" Las Fallas, anyone who hasn´t experienced should give it ago! Here you can read what it is all about.. valenciafallas.es
