Default Decent ****+ Hotels in Barcelona and Madrid

I enjoy my winters in Palma to the fullest.

Ever so often, I feel like spending a weekend either in Barcelona or in Madrid. I have been wondering, if any board member can recommend his/her favourite hotel in either or in both of the cities?

I am basically looking for a decent 4 to 4+ star modern looking hotel with all the good basics and as few frills as possible.

Thanks in advance...

Hey there dkviesfo,

Glad to hear that there's another fan of winter's in Palma. Here are a few hotels that i have stayed in myself, found them to be very accommodating and relaxed atmosphere. In Barcelona there is The Best Western Regina on the Calle Vergara road 5 minutes from the Catalunya metro stop, The Catalonia Duques De Bergara is another good one thats also just 5 minutes away from the same metro stop in the other direction on the Carrer De Bergara road my other choice for a good hotel in Barcelona would be the Ritz Roger De Lluria Hotel which is one of the best hotels i have stayed at in Barcelona, this hotel is 4 minutes from the Passeig de Gracia metro stop and is on the Roger De Llua road. As for Madrid there are a few options such as the Best Western Santo Domingo Hotel which is probably one of the most modern hotels i've been to, this hotel is right next to the Santo Domingo metro stop which is also very handy. Your other option is the Best Western Arosa which actually reminds me of this great hotel i stayed at in Torquay, this one is the pick of choice for me it's on the Calle Salud road and is 3 minutes from the Gran Via metro stop.
Hope that helped, Let me know how you get on.

Regards,
Grant

When we were in Barcelona in Feb. we stayed at Hotel Boria BCN Barcelona , a four star hotel in the midst of old Barcelona. Very comfortable (and for us very reasonable - our friends paid for the hotel). Would go back if we return to Barcelona.

Default Decent****+ hotels in Barcelona & Madrid

Hi

Have you considered an apartment in Barcelona?

We rented a two bedroom apartment in Placa Real off the Ramblas, beautiful modern interior, quiet and all mod cons. We only needed one bedroom but the price for the apartment was considerably less than a hotel and we had all that room and peace and quiet. Plenty of shops and restaurants for food and drink nearby. Can supply details if required.

Probably the same would apply in Madrid.

Default Apartments

Thanks for a great suggestion.

I'd love a nice holiday rental in both in Barcelona and Madrid. However, for the short stays, (long weekends and the alike), such apartments would probably make little sense.

I must confess that I am a bit of a spoiled brat... so, I am looking for the arrangements with a dishwasher, BB/ADSL internet and preferably a washing machine, too.

As always, suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks, again.

Apartment is the best way to stay in all cities when you travel I think, more privacy, or in shared apartments you get to meet fun people from all the world

Default Madrid accomodation

If you travel to Madrid try please SOL, this is the district (underground station also) with plenty of accomodation.
Best regards
