My guitar teacher is moving to Spain, just north of the Rioja area. My wife and I have been looking for a place to "split" our residency for the year, and we want a Spanish speaking country. So we're visiting Spain in 2010 for three weeks, concentrating on southern Spain. We want to visit Cordoba, Sevilla, Granada, etc. We will finish up with a day or two in both Madrid and Barcelona before visiting our friend for a few days. We've looked at the things like Rick Steve's Europe Through the Back Door itineraries, and they sound good, but I thought I'd ask if anyone was willing to take the time to map out a circuit for us. Arrive in Madrid and head south. We aren't party animals. We'd like to see some history and the countryside, get a feel for the area, that sort of thing. I know it's impossible in three weeks, but that's all we have. This is our first trip to Spain, but we both speak some Spanish. Mine is "tourist" Spanish, but my wife is fairly conversant (we've traveled to Mexico, Argentina, Peru etc). This is a lot to ask, but what the heck. Maybe someone can't sleep one night and decides to give us a hand. Thanks. How is the winter weather in southern Spain?
