    Default Los Pueblos Blancos

    Hi everyone!

I will be going to Spain in about a week and I'm trying to plan a trip through Los Pueblos Blancos. My idea is to rent a car in Madrid and to drive down to Granada to see the Al Alhambra. From there, I want to make my way west through the white towns making sure to stop in Ronda and Arcos de la Frontera. However, I was wondering if anyone here has taken such a trip and can recommend some routes, hiking places, things to do or see?

    Thank you!

Good morning petrograd and welcome to The Absolute Spain Forum. I have never done that trip, I have been to Ronda a few times but never really explored as yet. Also been to Arcos de la Frontera had my honeymoon there and have returned since. Both are interesting pretty places with plenty places to eat/drink enjoy ice creams while watching the world go about its business.

I hope you have a great trip

Did you know that all these 'puebloc blancos' were in fact concrete gray up until abou 22 years ago?? The villagers could not afford the whitewash.
Another useless bit of trivia from my archives!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you!
The Nature park of Sierra de Grazalema offers some very nice hiking routes. I recommend you to stay in Grazalema. It is the most charming small town in the park with good access to the routes.
My favourite routes are the ones starting from Grazalema and Benaocaz. Villaluenga - Llanos de Libar route is also very, very nice.
You will find the route descriptions in English, driving instructions, GPS waypoints and a lot of photographs from here:
    Sierra de Grazalema
The Nature park of Alcornocales is to the south from Sierra de Grazalema. The routes are not so special over there though. And you need a permission to some of them, and applying for the permission is too complicated.
