Default Places to visit in Spain

Hi I am from Bulgaria. Never ever been to Spain. My family own a small estate agency here in Bulgaria. We have many clients who have told us great things about Spain and would definitely want our first vacation to be to Spain. What are the places to visit in Spain a must?

Hi spainnewbie I can imagine this will be a very big trip for you! It will depend a bit on the time of the year you come and what you are more interested in (cities/nature/beaches)...

If you stay on the mainland you can fly to Barcelon (rent a car) and drive down the whole coast... Costa Blanca. Costa del Sol... You will find so many nice places! Just take a look at some of the photos the AbsoluteSpainForum members have in their profile! Some places are just incredible

Sevilla ! It is a much underated unmentioned city, when Spain as a whole is mentioned everybody shouts Barcelona, Madrid or the Costas! Well Costa de La Laz has lots going for it I can tell you Sevilla has many attractions

Catedral
Giralda
Real Alcázar
Torre del Oro
Plaza de Espaņa
Torre de los Perdigones ( Camera Obscura)
Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza

Are just few places in the city to visit, there are many more.

Outside the city Rio Tinto Mining Village build by and for the British mining workers ( probably the oldest mine in the world) has many attractions including a musuem, a Victorian house, train ride and a visit to a mine and a British cementry. There is a big British cementry in Huelva also.

Doņana National Park is home to many different species of birds, animals, flora and fauna, a wonderous place to explore.

Italica The remains of a Roman City is just on the outskirts of Sevilla, another not so well known attractions it appears.

Again many more but already been timed out typing this so no more just now.

Costa Blanca in general is a good place to visit. You have nice big cities like Valencia and Alicante that are worth having a look and towns like Moraira, Altea and Jávea that are little paradises.
Talking about Jávea where we live, it has got everything you could need, nice port, beach, rock and gravel. 25 km of coastline and many viewpoints to the sea, country or town.
Have a look in following link, it is in several languages
Xābia

Enjoy Spain anywhere you go

ValL, the Rio Tinto mines are fascinating aren't they ? We came across them almost by accident. Took the train - the colours of the river were fabulous, everyshade of red in the sunset. We spent the entire day, never really seen anything comparable. Steeped in history.
I had never heard of them and now realise they are still operating today as a massive company operating in Australia etc.,

Yes anis they are, the devastation is on a grand scale, quite a moonscape look. We have done the train and intend to do the Victorian House The Mine, The cementry and hopefully walk some of it next year.

Hello Spainnewbie!
It depends on what you are looking for: if you are looking for sun, beach... take the southern part of the country (Costa del Sol, etc) If you are looking for green landscapes, the northern part ( Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country). If you prefer to focus on cultural trips, then go for Barcelona, Madrid, Santiago, Salamanca, Granada...
Or you can just make a tour all around my country, see the different landscapes, architectures, climates, cultures...and decide what fancies you more !!

There are four main areas in Spain:

-South ( Andalucia, Murcia ): you get good climate, many spanish "topics" like flamenco, bullfigting, and all that stuff, and also lots of art and culture (Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba). Also, many kilometers of coast and beaches ( Costa del Sol, etc)

- North ( Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Pais Vasco): you get green landscapes, rainy weather, and cultural cities (Santiago, Oviedo, Santander, San Sebastian)

-East ( Cataluña, Valencia, Baleares) : lots of coast, beach ( Costa Brava , for example), and cultural cities like Barcelona or Valencia. In northern Catalonia, beautiful mountains)

- Center (Castilla la Mancha, Castilla Leon, Madrid, Extremadura): beautiful and varied landscapes, lots of monumental cities, and lots of art and culture ( don´t miss Leon, Salamanca, Madrid, Valladolid, Toledo, Caceres)

So, you can choose!
Best regards!!!!
Diego

Default Places to visit in Spain

Diego - you didn't mention the Costa de la Luz! Could it be you want to keep it for yourselves?

Chiclana is a very popular holiday destination for Spanish families, many many more spanish families than other European, which is why we love it so.

Kilometres of fantastic sandy beaches and coves, which retain the Blue Flag award from year to year and a choice of Seville/Jerez/Gibraltar/Malage to fly into.

Cadiz, Jerez, Seville and so many 'white' villages to explore too.

Hello Floriana!!!!
I can see you discovered our "secret place"!!! Just joking I forgot to mention it, right, it was a big lapsus! I was in Chiclana spending one Summer with my family when I was a kid, never visited it again, but sweet memories are still on my mind Itīs a real mediterranean paradise!

I wish I was on a warm beach now! Itīs really chilly here, and rainy. How is it there? In the news they said that snow is expected on the southern part of the country for this week. Here it snowed three days ago, but, as we are next to the sea, cold is milder here ( anyway, itīs chilly )

Best regards, un cordial saludo!!!!!
Diego
