    Default Una pregunta

    Hola a todos!

Me gustaría hablar (y escribir) español mejor. Soy inglés y he estudiado español por tres años.

    Muchas gracias

(that was hard work for me! Please feel free to point out all my errors)

    Hi Guiri (je je je)

Don't be afraid to speak Spanish, practice makes perfect and the locals are warm, friendly and helpful.

You can add in the Spanish International Keyboard from Control Panel (start - settings - control panel - regional and language options (languages tab) - detail) and then you can add in what you want. Once installed you will get an EN, ES switch on your desktop.

BTW this forum has a spanish forum which I see you have found Hablamos en Español - Absolute Spain Forum with several ongoing threads the most popular of which is Saludos desde Murcia - España

One of the best way to learn a language and think in that language is to study the "Pimsleur" Method. The program immerses you into thinking and speaking and understanding in the language of your choice. The method is a unique approach in learning a language and dispenses with the traditional method of using grammar with conjugations, declensions, etc.

Hello,guiri,3 years are enough long time and probably you know more of the language, than you think.Just forget this fear and start talk to people, this is only the way-to practice. And what i did, while living in Spain, was to prepare myself, guessing what possibly I am going to answer or ask in different situations.I had to shop,I had spanish friends and of course had to speak spanish.Watching TV/at least news/helped as well.Good luck.renee

And something else, what was already told, but anyway-spanish are happy to hear you try to speak, and are very helpful,if not all, many are.I knew i was mistaking, even mixing with italian, but they understood me,because they wanted, and were correcting me.

    Default dont think in english!!!

Hi, in first place i want to notice you that i am an argentinian guy who lives in spain for the last 5 years , i have many english friends so i hear them all day speaking in some kind of spanglish jejje, the better way to speak spanish is trying to think in spanish,do not translate literally, it will sound bad,but if you speak spanish as well as you write, you don`t be affraid to speak spanish,by the way if someone in this forum wants to know how to say a phrase in spanish i will try to tell you how depending in the context that you want to use it,.
P.S. sorry about my english , i did not practice enought :.)regards.

P.S. If you want to become a member of the "ayuntamiento"remember thet depending in the area you live ,you must learn the comunity language(for example:if you live in denia you must learn "valenciano")honestly i think that is unfair but that is the way they work .regards

Thanks again for the feedback, it's funny I know for time "por" is used but because I don't use the language every day I sometimes use "para" in error without even noticing LOL.......this is why I need to speak, write, think in Spanish hence my aim in several years is to work for 6 months in a place where the primary biz language will be Spanish

BTW your English is very good but you need to use the word "rusty" not "rusted".....that said without a doubt you would be 100% understood
