There were, and hopefully still are, a couple of chat rooms created for the purpose of allowing English / Spanish learners together. Once registered - I think it was gratis - you simply chose the grade you were comfortable with.
In there you would find Spaniards whose English was about the same level as your knowledge of their language. I brilliant concept; learning could be fun and interesting. Heck! My knowledge was abysmal at the time so I never kept them. I often wonder if they are still operating.

P.S. sorry about my english , i did not practice enought :.)regards.
After 21 years living on the Costa Blanca , I too have become Spanglish. Its a mixture of English and Spanish mixed together. Is it new , no far from it, the Brazilians, Mexicans and other South Americas countrys speak Spanglish.
Basically you speak Spanish as far as you can until you hot a word that you dont know in Spanish then substitute it for an english word.
Example, "Hoy estoy pensado a corta mi pelo, tengo una cita en la hairdressers" etc etc

Other examples of Spanglish would be taking an English word and making it a Spanish word which does not exist. For example: boss becomes bosso, roof becomes roofo, Merry Christmas becomes mericrisma, weekend becomes el wequin, etc. Sometimes the English word is incorporated in the sentence as if it was a Spanish word. For example: Voy a coger el subway or voy a tomar el subway. Or: Quiero un sandwich (bocadillo). Dame tu pen. Many times the reason why Spanglish exists is not because the person speaking does not know the Spanish word, but rather because they cannot think of the word at the moment they are speaking and therefore substitute it with the English word. This especially happens when the speaker knows that the listener is bilingual, such as in the case of someone that knows English and Spanish. Knowing that the listener understands, the speaker does not try to think of the Spanish word and instead substitutes the Spanish word with an English one. However, if the listener only knows Spanish, the speaker usually tries to think of the Spanish word or tells the listener that they cannot remember what the Spanish word is and attempts to explain the definition of what the speaker is trying to convey. As in the example given with "hairdresser" the speaker would explain what "hairdresser" means if the person with whom they are speaking does not know English.

"medio centenar" es "half of a hundred" y no "half of ten".
