Default Do we get value for our Euro?

A lot is being said about the value of the euro but do we, living in Spain, get true value? I beleive that we do and that a euro in Spain goes a lot further than a pound in the UK.
    Anyone out there agree?

The question is what is true value, when Spain moved from the pesata, it was like when uk went metric= a licence to print money . The price of food, nearly doubled.
Having said that, not having back in the uk for a year or two, we really have no idea about the pound-

On balance Keddy I think you are right, in fact the only measure is What is Your disposable income ? (after all taxes/costs)

    Beats the UK IMO.

I like to keep my economics on a simple level so I always use the price of beer! Most places around here charge between 1.50 and 2 euros for half a lager. That is a bit steep!

Most of the ex-pat places on Burriana Beach, Nerja charge 2 euros. I fear that they are going to have a long, hard summer if they keep charging that much.

I always say to people, go to Lidl and spend 50 UK pounds and see what you get. Go to Lidl in Spain and you get twice as much including loads of beer and wines etc as well as probably the best part of a weekly shop.

You want to try Lidl, a lot cheaper than normal supermarkets but a crash course in German woud help with some of the labels!!!

    Guiri,

I was a bit shocked to hear of you paying up to 2 euros for a half of lager. In my local (British) bar it is 2 euros for a pint. The majority of bars, British and Spanish charge 2.20 euros a pint or 1.10 a half. There are a few that charge a bit more, but I don't use them, and the only time I paid 2 euros a half was for Guiness in an Irish bar in Valencia City.

I just paid 5.50€ for my last pint of Guinness in Madrid! Stupid tricked-up fake Irish bar called O'Connors.
Round the corner, cañas and tapas at 1.60€..
