    Default Residencia Problems

Is anyone having difficulty in obtaining创 Residencia创. I belong to several other forums and some people especially from Catalunia areas are being told they cannot have one and that NIE is sufficient.
What about the tax dispensations you get with Residencia?

Our situation here is not usual in many ways therefore we do not fit in many of the categories for many things, confuses a lot of officials !

Sorry cannot help. There are so many different stories aboutit it is difficult to get the truth never mind for your own area. Spains different town have a lovely way of confusing extrajeneros and some locals I bet.

As far as I am aware Keddy your Residencia Card will not be renewed when it runs out (should you have one)
This I find quite annoying as it means I will have to start carrying my passport again (I assume) when mine runs out & yes I read that an NIE will suffice from now on.

As far as passport is concerned I have had my inner page on the passport reduced to credit card size and laminated. Seems to work in most shops, but on saying that so does a pet passport!!!!

It seems different rules are in place for different areas. We were told that when our residence card expired, we HAD to replace it with a certificate of residence. It is not any use as identification as it doesn't have a photo. It could be important if selling property or if dying and they wish to implement inheritance tax.. Also as far as I am aware non residents are liable to hacienda tax, whearas residents are not.. It's certainly worth trying to get one. I always use my driving licence in shops, I guess if you don't have one then you'll need to carry your passport.

Here's the take in our area.......those that had them can renew them but newbies applying are being told they are no longer being given out.

I am taking my Recidensia to the bloke who refuced my passport and see if he can reduce it accordingly. The more ID you throw at the authorities around here the more confused they get!!!!!
