    Default Internet In Spain

    Hi all,
Im sure this has been asked a number of times already but how is the internet connection in Spain, Malaga area. Is there any sort of wireless connections available so I do not need to get a fixed ADSL connection. Also what options are available for 3G HSDPA so I can travel around with my laptop and use the net.
Im a coffee shop freak, spend alot of my time in them always updating my site and responding to mail.
    Thanks

Not sure about Malaga area but wifi spots are becoming more available in Barcelona. (still way behind other countries). I always use a usb mini modem if I'm away, you can get a pre paid "top up" one here by most companies.

Companies like Vodafone and Movistar supply dongles for laptops so you can access the internet anywhere - in theory. Coverage was very patchy although has improved recently. Even here in the back end of nowhere we can get connection in most places although it can be a bit slow.

I have been using a dongle from Orange for 9 months now and we ssem to at the edge of the coverage. You have have the network setting to WCDMA only, otherwise the GPRS signal can be stronger and it reverts to that. GPRS is painfully slow.
ADSL will depend on where you buy your house. Telefonica have a monopoly on land lines and can be notoriously to get a line connected. After that the distance you are away from the exchange is also a factor.

If you get a landline you can offered anything from 3mbs to 11mbs depending on the package you take.

Vodafone have a sweet USB stick wireless you can contract...

Works well in most parts of Spain...

Yes and it's my biggest gripe with Spain (and one of the very few things the UK does better). I object to paying Euros 39 for a connection that would cost £7.99 in the UK and be both quicker and more reliable.
Thinks that if all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion
