Red face internet , help! :0)

Hi! just moved/in process of moving into a finca in the laMatanza area of Spain , near Alicante.
It is fairly remote, as we intend to run a dog boarding kennels, so perfect as we really dont want to upset the neighbours! But essential thing will be internet connection. I have been taking my laptop to Mac Donalds etc for the wi fi hot spots, but have had little joy in being able to communicate my needs if i go into the telephone provider shops, ie vodaphone and movistar.(in Orehuela, spelt that wrong??)_
the property does not have a telephone line. no cable,( No electricity!! , it is so far from supply) we use generators which is good, no problems.
The previous owners , i believe used a satelite dish for thier internet/television connection. Can anyone advise me how i go about arranging this? does it in fact need a satelite dish? I always get good reception on my mobile at the property if that helps to give you more info. Went to Guadamar yesterday and i was kindly given a news paper ad for internet connection via mobile phone and a dongle, i thought a dongle was something that hangs from an aussies hat? or a scouts knot?? this shows the extent of my knowledge regarding these matters!! its apparently 69e for the initial set up then a subscription of various amounts, starting at a reasonable 9e a month. that will do me just fine! i was told you start on pay as you go then you can change to contract after one month, i simply cannot follow all this ?? any one have any simple way to help me get connected.? i would be very grateful for any suggestions,
We are loving the wonderful mild weather, popped back to UK today,(selling my house here) the rain and cold and bleakness of all who it had effected confirmed to me instantly that my decision to make a life in Spain is the correct move!!.

hi and welcome. A dongle is basically a mobile modem. It works on mobile phone technology. With a good signal you can get speeds of 3mbs. I have been using an Orange dongle for 9 months now and use skype for telephone calls. It work out ay 45 euros per month, but you may be able to get a better rate than that asthere are always deals being offered. The only drawback I have found with this is you cannot connect more than 1 computer at time to the net. the benefit is you can take it with you anywhere.
When I signed up for a contract, the setup fee (purchase of the dongle) was waived and we got a low rate for the 1st four months. I seen recently that moviestar were offering a free laptop on sign up.Other companies have similar deals. Before you do sign up, get the companies to check the coverage in your area. All you have to do is give them your postcode and they can tell from that if you live in an area that is covered by their service.

The other system (satelite) is a 2way uplink to a satelite in the area you are in there are several companies which offer this service, but froom what I understand the original setup can be expensive and the download/upload speeds vary (depending on the package you buy)
