    Default How Hot's your Pool?

    Ours hit 30 degrees yesterday for the first time ever (we do get a lot of wind). Wondered how hot other peoples pools are at the moment..

    We are much more sheltered here, we also have a solar cover on ours. It has been 30 c for a a wee while, top layer can reach 40c before mixing in !

    Hi, My pool is a refreshing 26* C , just right for cooling off in this heatwave. Its in the shade all morning and only gets afternoon sun.
    It hit a incredible 47*C in the shade here in San Miguel de Salinas. 11kms inland from Torrevieja- Really hot today.

    can't sya how hot it got, but we lost almost 1 inch of water due to evapouration, or maybe it was all those damned wasps drinking from the pool

    I was in one yesterday (Torrevieja) and to describe it as tepid would be an understatement. It was warm, no chill factor at all. Everyone pulling their chairs around to get maximum protection from the sun. Wow! That warm (in San Miguel). Must have been similar here.

    One of our neighbours has returned to the UK, and left his pool unnattended. It is the colour of pea soup with everything bar Koi Carp swimming around or flying over it. With the electricity turned off, we are unable to empty it. It has evaporated down about ten tiles, but even in this heat, it's going to take a couple of years for it to empty.. Maybe we could put out some jars of jam to encourage the wasps..unless anybody has any better solutions. We've tried pouring in bleach, but would need a tanker full to kill the pond life.

    If you have no contact details for the absent pool owner and there is no key holder for the property then the only solution to avoid a massive mosquito/smell/health hazard problem is to;
    A) Contact the Guardia civil to make a 'denuncia'. (probably take a while)
    B) Get a sump pump powered from the adjacent property and drain it that way. (probably illegal )

    From what I read in the UK newspapers your neighbours will have gone back to pond life so, in a manner of speaking, they are in the same stew
