Default European Elections - Expat Candidates

The candidate in the upcoming European elections for the CDL, the Centro Democratico Liberal party, is Sean O'Curneen Cañas, half Irish and half Spanish. Fourth on the list, i.e. in a high enough position to make a difference, is Jacqueline Cotterill, a British long time resident of Spain and currently deputy-mayor of Parcent (Alicante). Jacqueline also works closely with the AUN, the anti property abuse association.
The CDL is the Spanish arm of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), which is the Union’s third largest political force, with 100 MEPs, 9 of the 27 EU Commissioners, 5 Prime Ministers, more than 800 elected National MP’s and thousands of Regional and Local councillors.

Another party, the UCyD, has put a Northern European on their list, but at Nº 29, the name is little more (in my opinion) than cannon-fodder to try for the expat vote.
See Taru Johanna Haapaniemi. She lives in Altea.

    Hey - me again.

I have a radio interview with Sean O'Curneen (free to use) at www.coolfmspain.com and a write-up at Spanish Shilling.

I think the chance of having someone who knows about the particular problems of the ex-pats (or 'displaced Europeans') in Brussels is worth passing the word around.

    Spanish Property 2012

We (AULAN - a local anti property-abuse association) had a 'round-table' meeting in Mojácar this Saturday to discuss property fraud, 'illegal homes' and the 'Auken Report'. Around 450 people showed including some owner's associations from Murcia, the Axarquía, Malaga and Alicante. I've written it up at Spanish Shilling.
David Hammerstein (MEP) also spoke about Brussels' efforts to control 'the endemic corruption' in Spain and Sean O'Curneen, the Irish/Spanish head-of-list for the CDL also made a presentation.
