get as fed up as I do about the idiots that keep spamming the site ? Why can't they read the rules ? Yes I know they only want free advertising but lordy this site is advertising friendly if you play by the rules and the constant abuse must be a real pain in the proverbial for admin

If we keep pressing the report button we can help keep them off the site.

I agree with you. Whilst I am still a very new member to the site I am trying to be active but it is hard to stay interested when there are more spam posts that genuine information requests.

Lord knows how you deal with it, must be a nightmare for admin on sites.

I think if we all make the effort to add something maybe about our area, say weekly, an experience of the day to day things required for living in Spain we can keep up interest ? any recomendations, anything we think may help others.

    Evening Val and Sunshine...

The site traffic has grown by quite a lot lately and our rankings in Google are growing by the day for all kinds of keywords so I guess the more success and growth, the more spammers too.

    There are mainly two types...

The mobile phone spammers are usually promoting a scam and 99% are automatic robots posting blindly on any forum they find, so its just something that unfortunately has become part of the internet. The other form of spam is very annoying... It is those members that are actually real people and just simply out for a quick blatant piece of advertising.

Like you say Val, the forum has been opened and constantly improved to provide everyone a platform to promote their business (obviously in line with our guidelines)... And yet we still get the blatant advertiser every now and then and on top of it the sneaky desperate business owners pretending to be customers...

Even so, its still a pretty well moderated site that is usually spam free compared to many

I just want to add to this PLEASE is it too much to ask for new members to read and ABIDE by a few simple guidelines ? the content here is not heavily moderated, we are very accommodating.

    Thank you

    Spanish Property 2012

Morning CD no it does not mean that at all. Some new members join then either immediately or some time later with no input at all to the forum post a advert for their business, having read the guidelines and ignored or not having read them at all. This forum is happy to help but some just take the biscuit at times. If some members keep abusing some guidelines/features etc they may end up being changed. I have seen misuse on other forums and the site owners tighten up facitities available to members and everybody loses out not just the minorty. It is not too much to ask members to play nicely and if they don't then they may banned from taking any part in the forum.

If you find a dog friendly hotel I am sure more than just me will be interested thanks CD.
