Can anyone suggest any useful books for novice birdwatchers in southern spain and also a suitable book for identifying wild flowers?

This web Site has been our bible since living here for Birding:
Pájaros de España

For identification we tend to use The RSPB Birds of Britain and Europe, we also have a book written by a local man ( sadly now deceased) called Bird Watching on Spain's Southern Coast. It covers Costa del Sol, Costa de la Luz, Almería, Doñana and some inland sites. He covers all aspects of any specific trip ie access, when to visit, general information, bird calendar for the area. There are some illustrations of birds and maps of each area covered. He had visited all of the sites mentioned.
You could also private message 'rafiki' on here he is a keen birder.
I wish I had a good flowers book ! I have made the following website a favourite and will have a good look one day soon.

Never forget....Latin is universal. If you have an English language bird book if you find the Latin name you can find the bird on this site by entering it's name in the scientific search....try "T" for Turdus (Thrush) for instance..... and the opposite is true.

smart thinking country boy
We were talking about you and the pictures of your place today, were your ears burning ?

Yes they were...hasn't it been humid today? I can take any amount of heat (a mere 34 degs today) but high humidity knocks me for six....I thought that was why my ears were burning![]()

Lovely here today humidity low, pool gorgeousI was telling my husband how lovely your place looks and maybe we should look for something like it for our retirement.

One of our most favourite birds of the summer is the Turtle Dove (Streptopelia Turtur). It makes the most soothing of calls and just is so correct on those long lazy afternoon Siestas.
