Update ! that unit sufffered in a power surge along with many other appliances of which some went straight in bin others have been repaired/replaced and today a new TV purchased. I had a new aircon unit fitted in my room as I will not do another summer without one !!! The very nice repair man is trying to fix my old unit for me.

Late update, original air con cannot be fixed, mother board is fried beyond repair.

    That's a pain, so I guess you need a new unit....... (;-

Yip not keen to pay out for another ( I am scottish :-) ) but I think a new one in the hall will be better for the summer if it is as hot as last year. To be able to cool the core of the house is much better than just my bedroom.

We've got three units which also act as heating (very expensive hence why we tend not to use it for that purpose). One in each of the two bedrooms and one in the living room. During summer we've found them to be more than adequate and more often than not we can get away without using them even in the height of summer. Conversely when cold, it's very cold ;-))

I thought I would never survive last summer I am seriously thinking of heading to the hills this year. I had no aircon at all and my pool was out of action for months.

Yeah I know what you mean......I need a pool and/or the sea. I can spend hours on a lilo with a good book ;-))

Or if we go out for a walk we can paddle in the sea to cool down.
