Signatures and PM's

Greg what's the situation with the forum and signatures?

I got an email sent promoting the forum (great idea) and it states:

"On ASF you can promote your website/company/products/services in your signature and join in on discussions about Spain."

...but it seems I can't add one

Also are we not allowed to PM? I got a welcome mail from you and my inbox is full, 1 PM?

I was going to add to the business directory, but it requires a reciprocal link, I have no problem with this but then it asks for €1? Yes I know its nothing but a reciprocal link, my sites have been established 8 years so its you that will benefit far more than me

Hi Leisure2000,

Welcome to the Absolute Spain Forum!

The signatures can be added once you have made 5 posts and been an active member for 7 days. The PM restriction is lifted as well with this.

As for the business directory the reciprocal link is free, and 1€ is peanuts.

I hope I'm misinterpreting you here, as I don't like the attitude of receive without giving... And if you are just out for a quick gain then this is definitely not the place. I'm sure you agree that that type of attitude would make it impossible to build up a community.

As a web designer and SEO optimiser I am well aware of reciprocal linking, my statement is only from that point of view. 1€ is peanuts but for reciprocal linking I have never come across having to pay before. What if someone wants to advertise there business but has no web site to reciprocate does that mean they can't list?

Our sites have been established many years and have good page ranking, the line about you benefiting more is a simple SEO fact no more...

Forums are great for misinterpretation if I have put a statement in bad English that causes friction just give me a slap, I bounce back quickly

Ok just to clarify the directory does not require a reciprocal link if you pay the "peanut"

If you do want to give a reciprocal, you don't even have to pay the peanut

Hi I am also looking to put on the signature I guess i will have to wait 7 days but once the 7 days is up were do i find the signature box. I was hoping to use this site to promote my website on [Please read the guidelines]which is a golfing holiday resort in murcia, could anyone help me as to the best way to go about it?

The best way would have been to read the forum guidelines then abide by them. Had you done so you would have known this one ....

3. Signature and website links

NO WEBSITE URLS (Commercial or not) are to be posted anywhere on the forum. Please respect this and instead include a website link in your signature. (If you are new, you first need to make 5 posts to enable your signature).

We have the 'Market Place' where you can advertise your property.

You will find the 'signature' option in the 'user CP' function which is on the blue line towards the top of the page left hand side.
