My German friend Hans, has just knocked at my door, on the way past Barcelona on the motorway, he was pulled over by a plain car showing a police badge. They promptly aked for his papers then took him to the back of the car, the other guy reached in the car without him seeing and robbed his wallet and watch. Now without money he had to get from Barcelona to Alicante on the normal roads pulling an 8 meter boat trailer, with zero petrol he arrived to me . I have given him 200 euro to get petrol and then to continue hi journey to Malaga.
Hans is 7ft tall built like a brickshisen haus. Not a man to be messed with. But these fake cops got him.

So beware DO NOT STOP FOR ANY CARS Except fully sign written police cars.

This Saturday we set off six of us, four lesbian girlfriends and my missus to discover Gay benidorm. Well was I shocked, by day what a pleasant busy polite friendly place, clean tidy a feeling of safe. We stayed in the Old town in Tipical Spanish cheap hotel, room 90 euro Hotel Tanit. Right on the sea front, room with a balcony overlooking the small marina. Can't fault the Hotel, clean tidy and polite great Spanish bar staff.
We decided to go out to eat first before visiting many of the famoso "Gay friendly bars", we found an Aragones Spanish restaurant which had a waiter with attitude, great challenge, he made us uncomfortable at first but once he realised we all spoke Spanish he melted and couldnt help enough. We had an Aragones starter of 16 pieces of bread all with different things on them, tuna, salami, cheeses, pates, etc a lot easier to eat then ordering a salad for the starter. The we all ate steaks, entrecot, fillet and brochetas of charcoaled grill steak which came out on sizzleing plates still cooking the meat, absolutely lovely, tasty.
So after our meal with drinks 134 euro for six 22 each.
We then started on the bars. We were all a bit nervous at first but soon got the idea. If the males where friendly we entered if not we went to the next.
Kings Hotel, Rich Bitch, The Look, GAP, and at least 15 more before we found one that we were all comfortable in. That was a tiny bar called Chaplins.
The girls where all disapointed as they did'nt see many other lesbian couples, I would say the gay scene in Benidorm old town is men.
All very friendly but a bit confused a five ladette girly types entered there domains and me, plain panic written across my face.
I got more propositions than any of the girls, I have binned the phone numbers and emails I was given.
We kept drinking till 05,30 in the morning and was really lucky to be allowed back into the hotel at that time to get just a couple of hours sleep.
Woke up at 10 back home by 12 noon, slept all day. Never again, oh I must say I was the oldest person there by at least 8 years, the rest where from 30 to 40 years old. Next time I want to see more lesbian bars than gay bars in Benidorm, so anyone thinking what theme to open a bar in Gay Capital of Spain, Benidorm. You have one now.

There are some fantastic wines in Spain and recently we took the opportunity to stock up on some of our favourites to bring back to the UK.

Here are our recommendations:

Don PX and/or Don PX Reserva - Both are amazing dessert wines, the former costs around euros 12 and the latter around euros 16 (PX about £20 and Reserva around £30 in the UK)

Marqués de Cáceres (Rioja) - around euros 6,96 (this is about £10.50 in the UK)

Banda Azul (Rioja) - around euros 5,00 (this costs nearly £20 in the UK)

Alceño (Jumilla) - around euros 5 (I've not seen this one in the UK)

What are your favourites?

Hi Folks

I've been super manically busy recently as I changed roles, still employed by the same company but working for a consortium. It's really strange because it feels like I'm working for a brand new company as everything in the consortium environment is so different. It's also meant I've not had much free time.....Hey ho, I'm starting to settle in but the fallout of this new role is that I can't work from Spain any more hence the boo hoo hoo title :mad::mad:

For the time being, it looks like we're going to have to restrict out visits to Spain to vacation time only......hey ho, at least I get six weeks vacation and I guess I was privileged previously having a role where I could work from home or Spain

The good news is I still have eleven days vacation (excluding six days I've already pre-booked in December) so I suppose it's not that bad

Anyway my rant is done........
