Thread: Tradesmen in Spain Wanted

Hello everyone,
My first post so I'll introduce myself, I'm Nathan and I spend 3 - 6 months in Spain every year.

I have decided to start an online service where tradesmen can quote jobs posted by members similar to the very new concept in the UK. Only difference being that there are no signup, quote, or subscription fees.

I'm now dedicated to this project and have a team of web developers creating the site including myself. The key to this website being a success is there being enough tradesmen signed up prior to launch.

Sites like these in the UK already provide tradesmen with plenty of work however since this is a new concept, these sites aren't as good as they could be. I have incorporated some unique ideas in mine that will make it safer and easier to use.

I would love to hear everyones feedback on the idea and potentially sign up some tradesmen at the same time.

Hi Nathan, Welcome to the forum........I think it's a great idea and I believe there is a market for this type of service.

Obviously as you mention having the necessary skills onboard at launch time is essential but site exposure and launching the offering (at least initially) in the right areas of Spain are key factors to be considered.

It's a good idea. Needed really. I have laid off nearly 200 Spanish tradesmen, almost all are on the dole looking for work. So I hope the site is in Spanish as well.

I hadn't really thought about that aspect of it, I will certainly look into the possibility of translating it all. I was mainly focusing on launching as soon as possible but I think that's something that should be implemented. I'm just curious as to whether I would also translate the english jobs posted into spanish so that spanish builders can quote those aswell.

Hola. If you do the site just for brit tradesmen then I do not think you will be able to fill the site. See shineyandy has offered help , he could translate the pages for you. This could be a big thing if you take in the Spanish tradesmen.

Souds like an excellent idea. Would there be some indication of competency/qualification?

They have something similar in the UK dont they?? "check a trade . com" or summat like that, but I think companies/tradesmen who use it have to be affiliated to their governing bodies? Otherwise anyone could set up and go on it?
