Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to get some signed up. The scope of this project has certainly expanded rapidly. I was first aiming to just sign builders in spain, then went to all trades and I'm now looking at the possibility of an inbuilt translator so spanish tradesmen can quote english jobs.

I really appreciate everyones input in making this project a success.

Does anyone know if there is already a spanish equivalent that already exists?
I know that the sites like this in the UK already exist but they can certainly be improved in numerous ways, even if there is competition, I'm still going for it as I'm already way too far in. I just want to know what I'm up against.

    Thank you once again everyone.

Spoke to the team this morning, I decided that I wanted to get a form going so that tradesmen can sign up prior to the launch. Hopefully should make it easier since the site isn't finished yet and the plan is that before the site is finished, I'll have enough tradesmen on there to launch straight away.

Question to you, How are you going to make money from this website?

Instead of charging tradesmen to quote jobs like existing sites do, the site charges a 2-3% fee on the total job to the tradesmen if they get it. That way they don't waste money quoting jobs they don't get and it should encourage tradesmen to quote more jobs.
I've been advised to charge 8%+ on the first ammount and slowly bring the percentage down depending on payment but I think it's a little too greedy.

I'd like to keep the system fair and if that means it's not as profitable, then so be it.

My first post so I'll introduce myself, I'm Nathan and I spend 3 - 6 months in Spain every year.

I have decided to start an online service where tradesmen can quote jobs posted by members similar to the very new concept in the UK. Only difference being that there are no signup, quote, or subscription fees.

I'm now dedicated to this project and have a team of web developers creating the site including myself. The key to this website being a success is there being enough tradesmen signed up prior to launch.

Sites like these in the UK already provide tradesmen with plenty of work however since this is a new concept, these sites aren't as good as they could be. I have incorporated some unique ideas in mine that will make it safer and easier to use.

I would love to hear everyones feedback on the idea and potentially sign up some tradesmen at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
I think that this is an excellent idea, there are many Tradesmen in our area looking for work, both Spanish and English, none of whom are on this Forum, so if you can give us details of how they can contact you, or if you have a provisional site with details that we can direct them to, I am sure you will get some feedback.

Thank you for that, I am going to get a very rough site up within the next couple of days that will be purely registration. This way people can start signing up ASAP.

Just to keep everyone updated, we fell a little behind due to some database problems, that should be sorted soon and our rough sign up site we expect to launch wednesday.

The doors have opened! Virtual doors that is.

We finally have the registration form for tradesmen online despite many setbacks but thats what its all about, keep pressing on and knocking down any problems in the way.

So I welcome everyone to join at tradesay.com
There is clearly a lot that needs to be done, even just to the form but expect very frequent minor updates so by monday, we should have our language selection online. Once again, thank you to everyone on the forum and lets get everyone signed up
