Thinking of moving over to your neck of the woods in the somewhat not too distant future.

I have a business in mind and need a couple of questions answering from locals over there.

First one is internet usage in Spain by the Spanish. In the UK nearly everyone shops online, or does online searches for items before committing to buy. Anything can be found online in the UK, is this a similar case in Spain, is online buying as common as in the UK or are they more traditional and will search their local area/high street so to speak when making purchases.

Hope you understand where I'm coming from as the business I intend to set up would be mostly online aimed at local Spanish primarily. Just need to know if they spend as much time buying online as us Brits and other Europeans do.

Thanks in advance of your replies.
Hi and welcome, don't know how I missed this thread. I sell on ebay.es my takings improve month by month. If you sell car parts to the Spanish online you will make a fortune. You can get a BMW engine costing 3000 in scrapyard or 900 online delivered to anywhere on the Spanish mainland for 60 euro. Every 17 to 24 year old Young Spaniard has changed the back lights of there standard cars.
There are many Custom car shows thoughout the year throughout Spain.

    Espaņa
    Population 40,525,002 people in 2009,
5,387,800 internet users in the year 2000
now there is 29,093,984 internet users in spain
that is 71.8 % of population using the internet
    a 440.0 % growth since 2000

Whilst I agree that many more Spanish people are using the internet, I think that your stats are misleading, because, although many have registered accounts, away from the cosmopolitan areas, they rely on internet and wifi cafes etc. it is still not as accessible as in the UK, and this is in part due to the price charged.

If that dreaded Telephone Company, and it's competitors stopped trying to rip us all off, then far more people would be able to afford their own connections, and not only would the Provider benefit, but online businesses as well.

I think it depends on where you live. We live in northeast Murcia, about one hour from the coast. We are lucky because we have a local company (Telecable Jumilla) that provides internet access (we have a contract with them), plus we know local people are using Orange and Vodafone for internet access as well as the dreaded Telefonica! Our Spanish friend has booked flights online for her son to travel to the UK, plus she has mentioned other family members like her niece booking online for bargain flights.

So you agree still 30% of Spain still does not use the internet.
My figures are from a European study. Spain beats France hands down for internet usage. Which was the original question.
