Default A Missed Opportunity: Restaurants Losing Out

I can never figure out why restaurants and entertainment venues when advertising in newspapers 1) have an incomplete address so most of us have no idea where they are and 2) do not at least display an e-mail address. Like just what century are they in? No wonder they are struggling. Is it any wonder?

They are still reliant on the telephone, which has been around for about 120 years, but ignore the Internet (e-mail) which is ten-times as useful as a means of communicating and setting out their stall. It is even FREE of charge.

With an e-mail they can send their menu to clients prior to arrival. They can send pictures of entertainers and what nights they are on. Show pictures of their restaurant, staff and environs. Give directions. They can - at their leisure reply to e-mail customer enquiries.

They can have a 'Friends of ................ Restaurant'. As part of their customer service they can collect clients e-mail addresses and put them on a mailing list. Hundreds or more customers can receive regular mailshots advising them of changed menus, special offers; entertainers, etc.

Will it be the next century before they cotton on to the last century?

seems likeagood idea but it would have to be a "subscription list" type of setup.Otherwise it would be construed as spam and spam filters would block it

It never ceases to surprise me why so many Spanish businesses do not have a web site; in this day and age I would have thought this would be a given!

Just as why do more cafe/bars not have a wifi connection for their customers. It would attract more cusstomers and they would stay longer, probably buying more food and drinks

The spanish have caught on to the mobile but have they caught on to internet yet, I don't know. Manana manana and website does not seem to fit, somebody has to setup/pay to set up, somebody needs to maintain it, man power costs, time, not in this century on some things maybe any benefits of having one have not been pointed out to many yet .......... Having a website of your own can be completely free and the maintenance is easy. Nothing to pay for and all it does cost at the end of the day is a little time and patience.
I have managed this, you just need to know where to look. I have helped a few people and if they cannot set it up , I have offered to do it for them, no problem for 20 euros and no more charges. That is a good price to pay to keep the customers rolling or just to have a site for family fun. Yes! the internet is a wonderful place but you may soon have to pay for emails and searching if certain companies in the good old USA have their way. So I suggest everyone should get on the band wagon before it is too late.
I have my websites and they help me to support my poor UK pension but I only work within my area. There is so much you can do and learn from the Internet, it has made the World a smaller but nicer place, as I have made friends from all over the World.
    Enjoy....

    Default Affordable websites

The reason many businesses do not have a website is the (perceived?) cost. Indeed most companies charge hundreds if not thousands of pounds for a website and if you are a little business or individual selling a service it's often way beyond your economic means.

I believe that a presence on the web is essential for everybody. A website does not need to be fancy. It should clearly state the service you're offering and be easy to read with some good photos.

To this end I offer a website design service to those on a budget who may not have the technical ability or time to do it themselves.

I charge €149 for the inital design and provision of home page (one page is often enough for a small business) and €50 per additional page. The annual administration cost is €50. This includes purchase of your own domain name, hosting of your website and associated admin costs. Updates to your website as requested cost €20 p.h. (minimum charge €10). As an example some changes to photos and text would take only about an hour).

So basically, a one page website, designed to your complete satisfaction, will cost you €199 in year 1 and €50 per annum thereafter. You will not be charged for the design until you are completely happy with it.

Please visit my website for further details and some examples on the Portfolio page:- [PLEASE ADHERE TO THE FORUM GUIDLEINES, THANK YOU].

    Regards Caroline

Thank you. Will do it tomorrow. Due to pop-up blockers I didn't see the guidelines on mentioning websites in discussions until after I had submitted my message.
