La Ruta, Avenida de Andalucia, Cadiar.

If you are driving through La Alpujarra, and want a quality meal then call in at La Ruta, the Staff are friendliness itself, and will accomodate your wishes as best they can. The Restaurant is not cheap, but then the portions are big, the quality and choice excellent, using fresh local ingredients.

During the summer, you can eat the same menu outside, slightly cheaper as you can sit there in your scruffs and watch the world go by.

Calle Álamos 19 Canár

Recently refurbished by a sister and brother and opened as a Mesón Rural serving Comida Casera y Tradicional Alpujarreña. Nicely done out, open fire in far corner with tables complete with fresh flowers. Very accomodating, if you ask for something and she has it will do it. So if it is not on the menu ask ! BIG free tapas with drinks, three visits and good every time.

An attractive restored olive mill with patio, serving fabulous Menu del Dia generous portions of good food for 8.50 euros.
Their free tapa with a drink ( inc coffee) was also quite generous. The staff were on the whole good although gaining their attention was a bit problematic at times.

Cádiar

Venta with covered patio and indoor bar and restaurant serving good local food. On previous visit ate outside with dessert inside. This time too late and cold so ate insde.
