    Default Advice

    Hi,
I need some advice.I visited this area for a day 2 years ago and really liked it.I am looking now to holiday in the area. We are a family of four with a 10 and 14 year old.Love beach holidays, but also require some night life.We are not looking for discos etc. ,and would like a mix of spanish and other bars, like to walk from pub to pub etc. maybe see some live artists.Obviously doesn't have to go on too late. Would also like to do some watersports. Any reccommendations on an area to stay would be much appreciated.
    Tony

Hola, La Manga strip is full of apartments to rent, theres a few hotels. You have beaches on both sides of the strip. It is very very quiet in winter and busy in summer.
Loads of watersports to do. Loads of bars and restaurants. Try near Mar de Cristal.

Hiya, Cabo Roig area is pretty expensive. La Manga strip is cheaper. La Manga Club is expensive.

Tonye1960 I assume you mean on the Mar Menor...well if yes Cabo Roig is not on the Mar Menor in fact it's not in Costa Calida it's just over the boarder in the Valencia region (Alicante Province). On the other hand La Manga strip is sited between both the Mar Menor and the Med however as ElJefe mentions it is very quiet in winter.

Mar de Cristal is ok, pretty beach, shops etc ;-))

    Other options for consideration include:

-Los Alcazares - Los Alcazares today is a busy tourist resort with a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, and some fine beaches. It is a popular spot for water sports and the Mar Menor is a haven for all types of such sports including windsurfing, sailing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming. For golfers there are a good range of courses nearby, with new complexes currently under construction, also the famous sports resort of La Manga is just a short drive away.
-Santiago de la Ribera - This old fishing village has 4 kilometres of beach, with fine, golden sand. Its Mediterranean waters are ideal to enjoy sun, sea and water sports all year round. It has an attractive, palm-lined promenade that runs the length of the beach.
-San Javier - Perhaps best known for being the home of Murcia’s airport, San Javier is a small town on the Mar Menor coastline of the Costa Calida, Spain. If you happen to be visiting around June time you can catch the famous jazz festival. Every Thursday is market day in San Javier too, when you have the opportunity to walk way with some Spanish treasure. There are also the spectacular beaches and promenades to enjoy where you can soak up the sunshine, or let it all out with some water sports activities.
-San Pedro del Pinatar - great beaches, nature reserve, mud baths, popular holiday resort with the Spanish and more recently other Europeans. The population swells in the summer months as many Spanish come down from Madrid to see out the summer months here. Perhaps a little sleepy in winter although less so that 5 years ago.

Rental varies depending on what you are looking for and the duration of the rental period. You can eat cheaply if you eat where the Spanish eat but if you fancy some luxury there are some expensive restaurants in the vicinity.....it really does depend on what you are looking for.
